Academic staff of consortium universities and affiliated vocational training institutions took part in a 3-day training focused on implementation of Tuning methodology to VET education. The European speakers from University of Deusto: Ivan Dyukarev, Hugo Sanjurjo Gonzalez, Aiser Altuna Garcia, Samiha Chemli and Marian Alaez presented the following topics: VET curriculum design, competences and learning outcomes formulating, ECTS workload assigning, competence-based teaching, learning and assessment methods application, ensuring employability and mechanisms for quality assurance.
During the 1st Day
Ivan Dyukarev covered the aspects of vocational education training and EU priorities for VET. Hugo Sanjurjo Gonzalez spoke about the competence-based education for VET. Ivan Dyukarev also gave the details of building a curriculum, choosing competences and consulting key stakeholders. Asier Altuna Garcia focused on VET programmes’ design and formulating the learning outcomes.
During the 2nd Day
Asier Altuna Garcia highlighted all dimensions of assessment process: characteristics, planning and tools. Samiha Chemli spoke about competence-based approach in choosing and applying teaching and learning methods and activities.
During the 3rd Day
Hugo Sanjurjo Gonzalez told the participants about the necessity of education system adaptation to the needs of the labour market under the quickly changing conditions. A number of generic competences and skills were also stated during the presentation. Marian Alaez Martinez gave a view of the Quality System. The speaker considered at length the following questions:
- the elaboration of the study programme design &
- the monitoring of the study programme by the quality committee
Asier Altuna Garcia’s presentation was devoted to the VET programme enhancement processes: participants, links to the labour market, image of VET and VET institutions, standards of VET programme, involvement of stakeholders in the design of VET programmes. What’s more, Asier Garcia mentioned the importance of the VET programmes modernization. In this part he spoke about the world of work and skills. At the end of the training, participants shared their experience, discussed practical aspects of creating an implementing a Continuous Professional Development Programme to enhance the qualifications of VET teachers.
