Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University is the oldest university of the Kaliningrad region. Its history began on August 17, 1544, when Albert of Prussia established the first university named Albertus University of Königsberg. Modern history of the University began in 1947 when Kaliningrad State Pedagogical Institute was founded. Then, in 2010 the University received a new status – Federal University. Now Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University has 11 institutes, carrying oldest traditions of its ancestor – Albertus University of Königsberg – and implementing state of the art technology and best practices gained not only from European partner universities, but from universities of the Asian region.
